Journal on Monday: week 19

Hey all!
For today's Journal on Monday i'm taking the second floor challenge, yep! If you don't know what i'm talking about, check out Nathalie Kalbach's or Julie Fei-Fan Balzer's blog. 
For the first challenge they ask us to use 'golden' paint. You know, like the color... gold. Yikes! Well, i tried. And guess what? I had fun!

Pour ce Journal on Monday j'ai été au challenge du deuxième étage, yep! Si vous ne savez pas de quoi je parle, faites un saut chez Nathalie Kalbach's or Julie Fei-Fan Balzer.
Pour ce premier challenge, elles nous demandent d'utiliser de la peinture couleur or. Beurk! Bon ben, j'ai essayé. Et vous savez quoi? J'ai pris mon pied!

Journaling: 'May you live every day of your life.' I wanted to create the effect of an old wall for the background, like the one in Lionel's office in 'The king's speech'. It doesn't really show in the picture, but it came out just how i wanted.

Journaling: 'Puisses-tu vivre chaque jour de ta vie.' J'ai voulu créer un effet vieux mur pour l'arrière plan, comme celui du cabinet de Lionel dans 'Le discours d'un roi'. Ca ne se voit pas top sur la photo, mais en vrai ça donne exactement ce que je voulais.

I started with a layer of gesso, than a layer of CP cadmium orange Golden acrylic paint, applied with a palet knife.

J'ai commencé par une couche de gesso, puis une couche de CP cadmium orange en peinture acrylique Golden, appliquée au couteau.

I added some green gold acrylic in the same way.

J'ai rajouté un peu de green gold acrylique de la même manière. 

On top of the paint i applied a thick layer of gesso with a palet knife, trying to make it look 'rough'. I half dried it with a heat gun. Carefully, i painted some golden dabber with a brush, than sprayed lots and lots of water to  dilute it, so that the paint could peek through. Than i dried the whole thing with a heat gun so that it made bubbles. Loooooove the texture! Thanks Nath for the reminder on this technique during your online Uber Media Gesso class!

Sur la peinture j'ai appliqué une grosse couche de gesso au couteau, de manière 'grossière'. J'ai séché à moitié  au heat gun. Avec précaution, j'ai peint du dabber or au pinceau, puis j'ai aspergé tout plein d'eau pour diluer le dabber, de sorte que la peinture soit visible. Puis j'ai séché le tout au heat gun afin que des cloches apparaissent. J'adoooooore la texture! Merci Nath pour le rappel sur cette technique lors de ton atelier en ligne Uber Media Gesso!

I rubbed a sandgrip over this chipboard bird, than colorised it using adirondacks: wild plum, rust, bottle, caramel, stream, all applied with cut'n dry.

J'ai passé du papier de verre sur cet oiseau en chipboard, puis je l'ai colorisé à l'adirondack: wild plum, rust, bottle, caramel, stream, tous appliqués au cut'n dry. 

The white stuff is whitened bark. Awesome texture that you can rip apart, colorize, use as a mask, ...

Le truc blanc c'est de l'écorce blanchie. Super matière qu'on peut déchirer, coloriser, utiliser comme masque, ...

I assembled the whole thing and added some rub ons. The journaling is partly stamped with archival, partly typed with my good old typewriter.

J'ai assemblé le tout et ai ajouté quelques rub ons. Le journaling est partiellement tamponné à l'achival, partiellement tapé à la machine sur ma bonne vieille machine à écrire.

Just look at all that texture! Tell me, how much do you like it? lol

a bit of everything

Hey all!
How about some pictures of what i've been doing lately... I've been demoing, art journaling and sewing! 
First: two tags made while demoing for Hobby Farm at Creativa Brussels. Creativa was great, so many people to meet, so many friends to see again, so much ink to play with! All i can say is, it inspired me!

Que diriez-vous de quelques photos de ce que j'ai fait ces derniers temps... J'ai fait des démos, du art journaling et de la couture! Tout d'abord: voici deux tags que j'ai fait lors de démo pour Hobby Farm à Créativa Bruxelles. Créativa fut génial, tant de rencontres, tant d'amies à revoir, tant d'encres pour jouer! Tout ce que je peux dire c'est que cela m'a inspirée!

An art journaling page i made this week. First time playing around with Derwents inktense (yummi!) and a stamp set from L'encre et l'image, bought at Créativa.

Une page de art journaling que j'ai faite cette semaine. Premiers essaies avec les inktense de Derwent (miam miam!) et avec un set de tampons de L'encre et l'image, acheté à Créativa.

Lots of you have been asking me about the journals i work in. I sew them myself. Though i haven't invented anything: it's an online class by Donna Downey, you can find it in her shop section. This week i made a new one and yes, please keep breathing, it's Tilda fabric and i love it!

Beaucoup parmi vous m'ont posé des questions à propos de mes art journals dans lesquels je travaille. Je les couds moi-même. Mais je n'ai rien inventé: c'est un atelier en ligne de Donna Downey, vous pouvez le retrouver dans son magasin en ligne. Cette semaine je m'en suis fait un nouveau et oui, n'oubliez pas de respirer, c'est du tissu Tilda et j'adore!

Journal on Monday: week 18

Hey all!
It's a simple one today! But it was fun making and i like it!

C'est une page simple aujourd'hui! Mais je me suis bien amusée à la faire et je l'aime bien!

Journaling: 'I wish i could freeze this moment right here, right now, and live in it forever.' (Suzanne Collins, 'The hunger games') The last couple of weeks I'm receiving so much friendship, i'm living so many happy moments, this sentence makes really sense to me ;)

Journaling: 'Si seulement je pouvais arrêter le temps, ici et maintenant, et y vivre pour toujours'. (Suzanne Collins, 'The hunger games') Les dernières semaines je reçois tellement d'amitié, je vis tellement de beaux moments, que cette phrase a vraiment un sense pour moi ;)

I started by applying liquid acrylic Golden paint with a brayer over the page (quinacridone magenta, golden green, cobalt teal, titan buff). I didn't gesso it first as i wanted the texture of the cardstock to show.

J'ai commencé par appliquer de la peinture acrylique liquide Golden au rouleau (quinacridone magenta, golden green, cobalt teal, titan buff). Je n'ai pas mis du gesso pour commencer puisque je voulais que la texture du cardstock se voit.

After a white wash, i stamped this delicious Donna Downey stamp with adirondack (rust, wild plum, currant, bottle) blended with water.

Après avoir blanchi à l'acrylique liquide blanche très diluée, j'ai tamponné ce délicieux tampon de Donna Downey à l'adirondack (rust, wild plum, currant, bottle) dilué à l'eau.

The adirondack had a hard time drying on the acrylic paint, so i played with some clear utee on the remaining wet ink. As the color of the flowers still looked dull, i accented the color with neocolors II than i doodled a border around them with a black pen. I also added a border to the page with an olive brown neocolor II and blended it with water. I added the wording first with a black pen, than with a Derwent graphitone which is water soluble and finally with a white gel pen.

L'adirondack ayant du mal a sécher sur la peinture acrylique, j'ai joué avec de l'utee transparante sur l'encre humide restante. Puisque les fleurs étaient encore pâles, je accentué la couleur au neocolor II puis j'ai gribouillé des contours avec un marqueur noir. J'ai aussi rajouté un bord à la page avec un neocolor II olive brunâtre mélangé à de l'eau. J'ai rajouté le texte d'abord au marqueur noir, ensuite au Derwent graphitone qui est aquarellable et finalement au gel pen blanc.

Journaling (pas facile à traduire du tout, mais tellement beau) : "Ecoute les 'tu ne dois pas', mon enfant. Ecoute les 'on ne peut pas', les 'c'est impossible', les 'ça ne sera pas'. Ecoute les  'tu n'auras jamais', puis écoute moi attentivement... Tout peut arriver, mon enfant. Tout peut 'être'." - Shel Silverstein -

Les étapes pour en arriver à cela:

I started by gessoing the page, but couldn't help it and played around.  After taking Nathalie Kalbach's Uber Media Gesso online class, simply applying gesso with a brush isn't enough anymore! Hence the playing with a credit card, a doily and glimmer mist (dragonfly, patina, juniper).

J'ai commencé par mettre du gesso sur la page, mais je n'ai plus m'empêcher de jouer. Après avec fait l'atelier en ligne de Nathalie Kalbach Uber Media Gesso, simplement appliquer du gesso avec un pinceau n'est plus suffisant! D'où le jeu avec la carte de crédit, un napperon en papier et du glimmer mist (dragonfly, patina, juniper).

Than i added even more gesso and a white wash.

Puis j'ai encore rajouté du gesso et un white wash (acrylique blanche très diluée). 

I sprayed a bit of diluted shading grey airbrush golden over a mask and added some rub ons. To tone the pages down i dripped titanium white airbrush golden over it.

J'ai aspergé un peu de shading grey airbrush golden diluée sur un masque puis j'ai rajouté des rub ons. Pour adoucir les pages, j'ai fait des coulures au titanium white airbrush golden par dessus.

I cut Lord Tim's scallops out of white cardstock and some scraps of tissue. 

J'ai coupé les festons de Seigneur Tim dans du cardstock blanc et des restes de tissus.

I sprayed the same glimmer mist as before on this tape. 

J'ai aspergé les mêmes glimmer mist qu'auparavant sur ce ruban.

The heart is a Lady Wendy Vecchi art part, on which i melted one layer of white utee. I assembled all the embellishments on the pages. The orange flowers are punched out of scraps of papers previously colorised that were still laying around on my table.

Le coeur est un art part de Lady Wendy Vecchi, sur lequel j'ai fait fondre une couche d'utee blanche. J'ai assemblé tous les embellissements sur les pages. Les fleurs oranges sont des perfo faites dans du papier préalablement colorisé qui trainait encore sur mon bureau.

Even though i love the journaling and how it turned out, the inclusion is my favourite part of it! So what do you think? Let me know! :)))

Même si j'adore le journaling et comment cela s'est mis sur le papier, l'inclusion est ma partie préférée! Alors, qu'en pensez-vous? :)))
