Courage!

Hi sweet all!
While you are reading this, I'm enjoying my last day in New York with my friend Marjie, as i will fly back home tonight... (sad face!).
But I'm here today to share a new spread in my journal. Making this lay out for the new Mixed Media Place challenge happened just at the right time, as the subject is 'courage'! I made this spread the day before leaving home for the CHA in California to inspire myself some courage! The challenge was double: keep it simple and have fun. All I can say is ‘mission accomplished’! It felt so good to breathe in all the fun, letting the creative juices flow, it gave me all the courage I needed to prepare myself to leave home. I also look forward to look back at it after the trip and to remind myself how a bit of paper and ink inspired me… courage!

I used the printed paper from the Vintage Vanity Mixed Media journal as base and sprayed Ecoline 717 over the Checkered stencil. To avoid wasting ink, I mopped the stencil on the same paper. All the scraps of paper on the spread are the left over boarders, recuperated after trimming my page to the right size.
As I have left overs of chicken wire on my table as well as plaster strip left overs, I used those as embellishments.

The butterfly is a left over from my previous art journaling spread, on top of which I added a Finnabair tasel. The biggest fight was adding the sewing, especially around the round 9th Wave element!

And of course, it needed a cold porcelain heart as finishing touch ;)
So, does it inspire you some courage to join the fun and play with us with for this challenge?
Hop over to the Mixed Media blog for more inspiration by the design team. See you there!

  2. This is absolutely stunning and seeing that you have used a printed page as your base and then sprayed etc on top has given me the courage to attempt a 'proper' journal spread instead of just drooling over yours each time you post and/or do a video. I am so glad to read that you have had such a wonderful time and soaked up the atmosphere and all the talent and inspiration and - and manage to get a well earned rest with your friend too. That will really 'set you up' for the winter months to come

  20. Beautiful of course! You must of had a lot of bags. i have a question.I went to our art store and asked for Ecoline and they had never heard of it. Then they thought it was liquid watercolor the same as Dr Martins. Is this correct. They had no info on index either. Are they called something else in the USA? Love all the work you are posting!!!
